Rite Aid 10/31-11/6

Apparently the PDF $5/$25 coupons have been abused and Rite Aid has pulled them. Also the ones on video values have been replaced with $1/1 coupons, so I guess you best bet now is to earn you $4/$20 video value coupon and watch for $5/$25 to pop up on redplum.com. Sad, but coupon abuse usually leads to tighter restrictions.

Rite Aid Recap

I got A LOT of candy, (which I hope to get rid of quickly this weekend) on the cheap this week. I think I bought more than I needed to, but my prego brain wasn't working... I think I could have gotten even better deals, but the cashier was ringing one item and then the coupon, plus sometimes the wellness discount messed things up. I still did very good though, just dont' quite understand the math on my receipt?
  1. Added $4.99 from September SCR and a $10 Rite Aid gift card
  2. Spent $25.83 from my cash envelope
  3. Retail Amount to date: $2163.81
  4. Amount spent out of pocket in 2010: $208.95

Preparing for Baby/Holiday Challenge Week #2

Christmas is just 8 weeks away! I hope you have been taking note of all the coupon codes popping up, there will be a lot in the next few weeks. Use them to your advantage and get those gifts early, saving money in the process!

I took a mini break from blogging yesterday and did some much needed playroom cleaning and made my freezer meals for the
hip 2 save Holiday Challenge. It appears that you can enter each week, so if you want to make 3 freezer meals for the holidays and have a chance for a prize, head on over for the details.

I made a lasagna, 2 sheppard's pies, and 2 pots of chili. It will be so nice when it gets crazy in December with Christmas and the new baby to have meals already made. I am curious, do any of you make regular freezer meals or participate in a freezer meal swap group? I think it is a fabulous idea!

Stack, stack, stack

Right now on coupons.com there is a coupon for $3/1 for Similac and $5/1 for Enfamil, since these are manufacturer's coupons they can be stacked with store coupons, like the $2 in the Rite Aid ad....
BUT
did you know you can also "stack" these with the formula check you get in the mail from the companies. These are considered a form of payment, a check, not a "coupon", so you should be able to use all three. That means you can get some pretty cheap and possibly free formula!
Sign up for formula checks and samples at

Retail Therapy

If you are headed to the mall this weekend, there are a few good sales going on... Sears has a $10/$20 coupon good on apparel, even sales and clearance. I was able to get this 4 piece outfit for $14.99.

Also, Macy's One Day Sale continues tomorrow, no coupon in the ad, but you might have one from a mailer. I paid $15.98 for all of this! There was a whole table of the Men's Polo shirts that were on sale for $4.99 each, $3.99 after 20% off coupon I had. Happy Shopping!

  • Brita Pitchers (5 cups) are on sale for $4.99 (normally $19.99!) There is a $5/1 coupon here or a $4/1 in the 10/17 SS. I am super excited to try this on our well water.

*Don't forget to look in the coupon basket. I found the $3 Febreeze coupon in there and went to check the price and sure enough...FREE! These are also a money maker at Rite Aid this week, see Rite Aid post.

Preparing for baby/Holiday Challenge

Collin over at Hip2Save, one of my favorite blogs, has issued a holiday challenge. I thought I would join in on the fun, since I am trying to get all my Christmas and holiday planning before my baby arrives, (due January 1). This weeks challenge was to make and freeze 3 breakfast items. I made Old Fashioned Oatmeal Bread, Apple Spice Bread, and Cheese Strata. I think it is too late to join the challenge, but you can always follow her plan and help to make the holiday flow a little easier for you.

Rite Aid Recap

I have a new therory for my Rite Aid shopping, I buy what I need and will actually use. Rite Aid Recap (8/28-10/14)

I kept track of all my Rite Aid purchases when I was a non blogger. I want to see how much I am going to save over a whole year. Here is the six week recap:
  1. Added $106.79 from various rebates, gift cards, and SCRs checks.
  2. Spent $84.79 out of my cash envelope and $9.37 out of pocket
  3. Retail amount to date: $2051.80
  4. Amount spent out of pocket in 2010: $208.95

Deal of the week: 49 cent Fresh Express Salad Kits

I love these salad kits! They are a quick easy side and you can easily add your own fresh veggies to liven them up. Right now at fresh express they have a sweeps game for an iPad and other prizes that you can enter once daily. You just need to play a little spinning game, which is very easy to figure out and do right (they even let you practice). If you get it correct, you $1 coupon and are entered in the sweeps. If you get it incorrect, you still get a 50 cent coupon. There is no limit to the coupon, so you can come back and get another one everyday. They don't expire until 1/31/2011. These are often on sale at Fred Meyer and Albertsons too.

This week, kits are B1G1 free at Fred Meyer (priced at $2.99 each).

  • Buy 2 kits=$2.99
  • Use 2 $1 coupons
  • 99 cents or 49/50 cents each!

There are several new flavors including, Strawberry Fields and Chicken Ceasar Salad. Unfortunately salad doesn't freeze, but you can buy ones that will last through next week. Another thing these are great for is to give with a meal you might take to someone. They can make it fresh when they need it and they don't have to worry about any salad bowls to clean and return.

I'm back...

Well, we are settled (somewhat) in our new pad and I have modern technology like internet again! Yeah! Trying to coupon without daily internet access is HARD! I did still manage to do okay, but I felt sick inside knowing I was missing great deals and spending WAY too MUCH for the everyday essentials.

Anyway, I am back to blogging. I never wanted to be a "cut and paste" blog or do 20 posts a day. I am trying to just share the best deals and little tidbits, because it is something I love to do. I am also almost 30 weeks pregnant, so I am not sure how the blogging will all work out once I have 4 kids! So bear with me as we get back into the swing of things. I do have a couple of fantastic things and giveaways to share with you in the next few days. Here we go...
