Rite Aid 8/1-8/7

Rite Aid, although more confusing now, is still my favorite to stock up on health and beauty, toiletries, and household supplies. Lots of ways to save, Single Check Rebates (catalog located in store and changes monthly), wellness + program (card) info here, video value coupons (earn you $5/$20 and 2 $5/$25) here, and + Up rewards (essentially like a catalina). I have been waiting for an "official" update on Rite Aid's coupon policy concerning + Ups, because I have been hearing and reading lots of different things. The consensus seems to be you can use them the same as cash as long as your total is still positive at the end of the transaction, there is no limit to the number you can use per transaction, but you can only earn 1 of each of the + Up rewards. This means even if you buy more of the item or do multiple transactions, you will only get the + Up reward the first time, just like the SCR program. (Personally I like this because it prevents shelf clearing.) This is tracked by your wellness card as well as only 1 of each of the video value coupons.

Houseparty

There are some new houseparties that have just been posted and some are ready to enter.
  1. Capri Sun
  2. Kraft Homestyle Macaroni and Cheese
  3. My Thai Kitchen
  4. Beyblade Let it Rip

Head on over to houseparty for your chance to hold one of these fabulous parties. What is houseparty? It is a way for companies to promote new products through word of mouth. As a host, you will get a party pack with coupons, samples, and other fun freebies to share with your guests. There is no selling, sales pitch, or gimmicks, just free stuff to share with friends. This is also a great way to try new products for cheap or even free. Here are some tips to get a party:

  1. Make sure to "sell" yourself on your application. Especially any spaces that are short answer type questions. Think about something unique that you will do for your party.
  2. Enter lots!! You can enter each party only once, but there is no limit on the number of parties you can enter. I recommend entering each one that interests you.
  3. Once you get selected, participate online. Post comments, photos, and links to your blog. Encourage guests to do the same. If you are a guest at a party, participate online too.
  4. Remember to honor the houseparty ideal and have a party and share the samples and coupons. Who doesn't love a party, especially one with coupons involved.
  5. Keep trying, persistence pays off. I have entered 26 parties since last fall and won four (one through another site). Good luck.

PS, a few of these parties are sponsored by Kraft First Taste. This is another program that is great to sign up for. You will get high coupons (mail and printables), samples, recipes, meal ideas, and opportunities to try new products. Also be among the first to know about Kraft First Taste House Parties.

New Sweeps

A few new fun sweeps to enter...

  1. HGTV Great-Fall Fix Up, win $75,000 to renovate your home. Enter once daily through August 23 here

  2. Starting August 1, 37 days of Giveaways at parenting.com Enter once daily here

Rite Aid Recap

Another successful Rite Aid trip! (By the way, the "disturbing news" I eluded to a few weeks earlier, must have been the cashier bad mood or her confusion, because I had her today with no metion of it or hassle. She had told me earlier that you had to have "one coupon per item" meaning I couldn't stack with video values or use + Ups without a filler. Thanks goodness that wasn't true!)

  2. Amount Spent: $7.76 from my recycled cash

Gerber catalinas

Baby food is hard to find cheap or coupons for. There are a couple of Gerber deals going on right now at Albertsons.

  1. Buy 2 Gerber Yogurts (in the baby food aisle, priced at $2.69) get $2 catalina. (I am not sure how long this runs.) I got a catalina coupon for $1.50/2 recently. Also lots of these have "try me free" peelies on them. Once you submit for the rebate, you get both yogurts for 69 cents! My purchase also generated another $1.50/2 coupon.

  2. Save on Gerber Beverages between 7/16/10-8/8/10 Spend $5-$9.99, get $1 cat, spend $10-$14.99, get $2 cat, spend $15 or more get $3 cat. I have also gotten coupons for Gerber juices from the catalina machine before. These products also often go on clearance, so keep an eye out.

Another good way to get Gerber coupons, is to get on their mailing list. Click here to sign up. They will frequently mail you coupons based on your childs age and progress level.

Healthy Baby House Party

This party wasn't through http://www.houseparty.com, but I did get a house party through seventh generation and YoBaby yogurt. Included in my party pack, coupons for yogurt, diapers, cleaners, wipe samples, detergent samples, and dish soap samples. I packaged them all together in a mini tote.
Then we handed them out at playgroup at our local park.
My daughter loved being in charge of handing out the "gift bags"
I also got 6 coupons for FREE yogurt from Stoneyfield Farms, (we shared the yogurt for the playgroup snack) Free disinfecting wipes, and Free seventh generation diapers. I had never tried eco diapers before and I must say I am more impressed than I thought I would be. Thanks again to the companies who make these house parties possible.

On vacation

I am going on vacation until next Monday. I will be out of the area, so I won't be able to do matchups for Rite Aid. Please check the grocery gathering for Rite Aid matchups. I will post them on Monday, when I get back. Thanks for your patience.

Rite Aid Recap

I had to go to a couple of store to find the Neutrogena Clinical, but I wanted some overage for my fund. Plus, I am interested to see how well it actually works. Because I used my Wellness card, it took off $8, so they only charged me $31.99.
  1. No rebates added, check in the mail. Note: I have been holding off until we move on mailing in some rebates, because I wanted to make sure that the check ended up at the right address.
  2. Amount Spent $35.43 (again most of that was Neutrogena)
  3. Retail Amount to Date: $1479.84
  4. Amount spent out of pocket in 2010: $188.96

School supply deals are starting! Even if you don't have a little one in school, it is a great way to stock up on art supplies and gifts. Ode to Kmart

Last day of doubles, it has been fun. I was a little sad that I didn't get to get gum or cleaners this go around, but maybe next time. I got ReNu again ($4.99 for twin pack), Bandaids, ($1.50) and Oral B toothbrush, free! I was planning on getting free Lip Smackers, but I couldn't find them and had to go pick up my kids.
Kmart gets a bad wrap, I realize it probably wasn't the best marketing tool to hire Martha Stewart and Rosie O'Donnel as your spokesman. I know they have lame employees and the store is dirty. And everyday, they may be overpriced more than the Wal...but let me tell you the top ten reasons "i heart kmart."

10. They have smart registers! They double automatically, no thinking on your part or the cashier.
9. I am sentimental and it brings back memories: When I grew up there was no WalMart nearby and going to KMart was a social event.
8. The employees actually have time to help you.
7. They have excellent clearance deals, hello Blue Light Special!!
6. Since they merged with Sears, they have nicer stuff.
5. The Shop Your Rewards card, nice perks!
4. Less BO smell, (okay so that is rude) but anyway less people=more room in the aisles so I can maneuver the store quickly.
3. They actually run promotions.
2. They DOUBLE COUPONS frequently.
1. They are just NOT WalMart.

So what do you think of Kmart?

FlavorIce Rebate

We love Flavor Ice at our house (except the wrappers everywhere, but that is another post)...If you love them too, be on the lookout for this rebate! The 100 count boxes have a rebate for $2 on the box. They are priced between $4-6, so it makes it about half price. The fine print didn't limit the amount of rebate you could get either. Lots of cheap popsicles at our house!

Rite Aid Recap

*I "learned" some disturbing news at Rite Aid today, going to investigate it before I post anything, since it was my least favorite manager that told me. However if it is true, I am depressed. :( I was SO EXCITED to see that the $1.99 milk was Umpqua and not "generic" brand! Yeah!!! I love "cheap" good milk! Also if you use the $2 in ad coupon for Eco Tools, you can get a bath poof, face scrubber, or pumice stone for free since they are priced at $1.99! Recap:

  1. No rebates added, again :(
  2. Spent $10.60 out of pocket
  3. Retail amount to date: $1402.69
  4. Amount spent out of pocket in 2010: $153.53

Kmart Day 1

*My son wanted to be in the picture :)

Yesterday was crazy and Kmart Double Action didn't happen :( Today I went and both the manager and cashier knew EXACTLY what was going on! Kudos! Here is my transaction:

  • Venus razors $6, use $2 from 6/6 and 7/4 P&G=$2 each (going to have to give some of these away to sisters, sisters-in-law, etc)

  • Pantene stylers $3.50, use $2 from 6/27 Parade (no overage at Kmart)=Free!

  • Pringles filler and bribe tool :)

  • Swiffer stuff to get me over $35, (yes, I know I hate Swiffer, but I still have one and it is a quick way to clean up my rental for house hunters!)

  • Used $5 of $25 Health and Beauty purchase coupon that I got out of the catalina awhile back.

  • Total $14.18, plus got back a $10 catalina=$4.18

Now, I know that I could have gotten a lower out of pocket, but I was buying things I would use. I am going to go back and see if I can get some cheap/free products that we actually use in the next few days.

There are in store tearpads with info on the P&G catalina, spend $35 get $10 catalina back. This WILL NOT roll, because you can't use the coupon until next week. Anyway, here are all the details, click on to make bigger.
