Don't throw away those box tops!

My daughter who is almost finished with kindergarten came home from school with all these "treasures" yesterday. (Notice the strategic cropping). The box tops her school collects go to the music department. The music teacher gave the kids prizes based on the number of box tops they brought in. My daughter got nine prizes and was so excited. It is so great to help the schools with items I got cheap or even free! Don't throw them away, if you don't have school age children, donate them to a neighbor who does or a school. In this tight economy, every dime towards schools counts and is appreciated.

Rite Aid 5/23-5/29

This is the last week to earn SCRs for May. If you are close on a couple, now is the time. The $30 P&G coupon booklet or the $5 Kellogg's Coupons end this week, however the Huggies coupon has until almost the end of July, so you can wait on that one. You can check your status on these at the SCR page on riteaid.com.
Head over to video values to get your $5/$20 coupon or $5/$25 coupon, (there are 2 of them on there now!) plus lots of other good ones. Note, you do not have to print them all, but I would suggest watching most of them (if you ever use the product) because the deals can pop up the next month. Then you can go back to your "rewards" and print only the ones you need. (Since they are such ink hogs!) The coupons change on June 1, so take some time to watch this week. Don't forget about the free photo mouse pad and they have also finally added a Huggies coupon, the illusive one from the ad last week.
One more thing, the $5/$25 coupon on redplum.com, may have reset for you, so be sure to check. Now, on to the deals!

Kudos to Fred Meyer and Catalina

Remember how I attempted to do the Huggies Catalina deal here and that it didn't work and Fred Meyer was looking into it for me, that was Monday.

Early Tuesday morning, I got a call from catalina asking for my address to mail my coupon out and I got it today! It also came with a very nice letter thanking me for my patience and patronage. They mailed it all the way from Florida and I still got it in time to roll it into another deal! I was way impressed with both Fred Meyer and Catalina on this one.

A good lesson to be learned here, if you catalina doesn't print call 1-888-8COUPON with your receipt information. I was under the impression that it took forever to get through to a person and even longer to get your coupon. That doesn't appear to be the case. Never give up on a catalina you earned!

All You Finds!

I love All You magazine, well I was browsing their website today and came across some great finds!

  1. Daily Free Samples, every week day in May, All You has another free sample to request. The best part is you can pick and choose the ones you want (and will use) all the way back to May 1! Remember samples often come with high value coupons!

  2. I found the Grocery Challenge Info for 2010! This is a fun challenge to do. The winner will receive $1000 to put towards groceries and appear in the magazine and on TV. Basically you get $25/person to spend on groceries each week for 4 weeks. You log into a blog and share you experiences and creativity. I participated last year and it was a lot of fun! Last year, I was moving in the middle of it, so that threw off my game plan. Looks like this year, I will probably be moving in the middle of it too. :( Anyway, I am still going to try. It is great motivation to try and be creative and eat healthy while on a budget. Let me know if you plan on entering.

  3. Also, actually in the magazine, they have a new online coupon code page. Lots of exclusive coupon code for All You readers, my favorite is the blurb.com code, maybe I will finish my blog book now!

What is up with all this diaper craze?

All right, I am sure you noticed the huge surge of $3 Huggies coupons last week. If you missed out, head on over to coupons.com and start printing. Also you can become a fan of Huggies on facebook to get more $3 coupons. I am sure it has something to do with all the Pamper's New Cruisers issues. There are claims being made that the new Cruisers cause severe diaper rash and even chemical burns?! I have not noticed this, but my daughter has sensitive skin anyway, so it is hard to tell where the dry patches stem from. Have any of you had trouble with the new Cruisers? I am assuming that soon we will see a Pampers brigade of coupons and deals also, to try and fix this PR problem.

Anyway, so I went off the use these high value Huggies coupons, first I went to Rite Aid. They have Huggies on sale for $8.99, plus buy 5 packs, get a coupon for a free pack. I saw these "limited edition" Jeans diapers and was super curious...

They are cute, but I am still a little confused at why? I guess to look cute in the summer! Strange, but adorable! What do you think?

Font size
Then I went to Fred Meyer to try the buy $15 worth of Huggies get $3 catalina. There is also an in ad coupon that makes them $7.99 a pack, plus the $3 coupons and then getting back a $3 cat...what a deal. Except of course, it didn't work for me. (Fred Meyer customer service working on it for me.) Later, I read this post from Frugal Chic Living and realize it may have been because I bought Little Movers. Read what Crystal wrote if you want a smooth transaction. This promo should run at all Kroger stores and will roll. Hopefully the bugs will get worked out and it will work better. If it doesn't print, I would reference the ad on page 12 of the Fred Meyer coupon booklet and head to customer service. It was also an ad in the Smart Source, right next to the Huggies coupons. It says nothing about certain types of products being excluded either. Anyway, still worth a try, $9.98 for two packs of Huggies is a great price!

Motherhood movie and coupon codes

Okay, this is not the best movie ever, but if you are a mommy blogger and stay at home mom, you will relate. Warning though: it is a little slow and do not make your husband sit through it! It is still totally worth the $1 redbox fee and made for a nice relaxing evening for me.

On the DVD there are coupon codes, here they are:

  1. http://www.adenandanais.com 15% off using code: motherhood
  2. http://www.diapers.com free bjorn bid with $50 purchase, using code: Bjornbib
  3. http://www.diapers.com $10 off $50 order, using code: motherhood (I don't know if they can be combined?)
  4. http://www.parenting.com/motherhoodmovie for 3 years for $12 plus a free diaper bag
  5. http://www.serenaandlily.com 20% off using code: motherhood
  6. $1 off Aveeno baby product printable coupon, pdf found on DVD

Free Photo Mouse Pad and Sweeps at Rite Aid

I was just thinking how nasty, my old mouse pad was...when Rite Aid had a new deal! Head over to video values, watch a 90 second video and get a coupon for a free photo mouse pad. Then go to the photo center from the main Rite Aid page, upload your photo and order. If you have it shipped to your store, you bring in the coupon and it is totally free! (One thing to note, the mouse pads are on sale for $9.99 right now and the coupon takes off $12.99, so they will have to adjust one or the other.) I got mine today and it is so cute and such a big improvement!

Two other exciting things,
  1. Go to my way photo for a chance to win up to $5000 and a Fuji camera, plus lots of other prizes, by uploading your favorite Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Graduation themed photos. You can enter up to 90 photos in 9 different categories. There are only about 70 photos per category right now.
  2. There is also a daily giveaway sweep. The prizes are mainly photo gifts or packages, but they are giving away 25-50 prizes a day, so pretty good odds.

Good luck and if nothing else, get your free photo mouse pad!

Rite Aid Wellness-watch your totals!

I love the Wellness random discounts, however, it can mess with your totals so be aware. Your total will probably be lower, so you might have to buy more items to use the $5/$25 coupons. Also this week I had some Free Nabisco Cookies coupons from Facebook, so I was going for the $2 SCR off $10. However they rang up 80 cents less than what was marked on the aisle, so I was $1.60 ish short on meeting the rebate. Luckily, I have one more coupon that I can use. I just wanted you to be aware if you are going for a total amount spent SCR, you might want to include a $1-2 buffer so you are at the right amount even after the discounts. Tricky Rite Aid, tricky...

Free Tote Bag from Real Simple and Rite Aid

Real Simple and Rite Aid have a promo going on right now. Buy one of 7 products between 5/10/10 and 6/14/2010 at Rite Aid and receive a free tote by mail. More info (including the address) here.

Products are:
  1. Children's Claritin
  2. Head & Shoulders Dry Scalp Shampoo and Conditioner
  3. Hershey's Kisses Milk Chocolates
  4. Jergens Natural Glow Firming Daily Moisturizer
  5. Mederma Scar Cream + SPF
  6. Pepcid Complete
  7. Rembrandt 2 hour Whitening Kit

I am not seeing any SCR or sale matchups right now (other than Claritin counting towards Allergy SCR and Head & Shoulders counting towards P&G coupons). I will let you know if I find a good deal matchup. Also, maybe June will have a SCR to go with one of these products. I ordered the sarong last year from Rite Aid/Real Simple and it was very nice.

Gymboree Sale

Gymboree is having a terrific sale! I love their clothes, especially when combined with a coupon code! Three ways to save now:
  1. Use the online code GYMFAMILY to get 30% off.
  2. Earn Gym Bucks, a $25 coupon for every $50 you spend, then later in July you can redeem these coupons for $25 off a purchase of $50 or more.
  3. Shipping is only $5! That is a very good shipping price for Gymboree.

I am going to go check it out right now, it is 77 degrees today and the kids need summer duds!

Fred Meyer deals

Fred Meyer's Founder's Day Sale is going on this week! There are some great deals, I got all three things above for 59 cents!

I did my main transaction and got a $1/1 Northland coupon from the catalina machine, so I had to go back in and use it! 50 cents for juice normally $3.79! Look in the coupon exchange box for this coupon too.
  2. Raspberries $2 each, used my $2 off $2 or more produce purchase I got from my Fred Meyer rebates that came a few days ago. There are many $2, including strawberries, blackberries, pineapples, and mangos!
  3. Hamburger $2.09, used my $2 off $2 or more meat purchase from Fred Meyer rebate coupons to get it for 9 cents!
  4. They also have kids knit separates on sale for $3.99 (0-4T) or $4.99 (4-7). Great basic shorts, capris, shirts, tanks, and graphic tees if fun colors and designs. I got some neutral ones to mix with existing pieces we have.

Formula Deals

Formula is expensive, as in liquid gold expensive. Here are a few ways to save:

  1. Sign up for mailing lists to get free samples and "checks"

2. Free samples:

3. Rebates:

  • Form located in Fred Meyer (Kroger) store. $10 Rebate by mail on the purchase of any 3 23.4 or larger cans of powder of any Enfamil brand formula. Products must be purchased between 4/21 and 7/31 2010. There is no internet link to this form, so be on the lookout for it in the store.

4. Stacking coupons with checks.

  • Occasionally like in the 5/9 SS there is a formula coupon. More often formula coupons print out from the catalina machine. These are manufacturer's coupons.

  • These coupons can be used with "store coupons" for formula which rarely, but occasionaly happen.

  • Both of these coupons can be used with the "checks" that the formula companies send you. These checks are considered a form of payment and therefore allow coupons to be used also!

Macy's One Day Sale: 5/7, 5/8

Just in time for Mother's Day, another Macy's One Day Sale is today and tomorrow. There is no printable savings pass, but you may have received coupons in the mail. As always lots of morning specials, including jewelry specials and an extra 50% off fashion clearance.
My husband was asking why the One Day Sales are so often. The reason is the sale cycles about every 4-6 weeks, but holidays, like Easter and Mother's Day also always have a One Day Sale so that is why we have had so many lately. Happy Shopping!

Rite Aid Recap

  1. Didn't add any rebates this week
  2. Spent $26.12 from my recycled cash
  3. Retail Amount to date: $890.34
  4. Amount spent out of pocket in 2010: $114.81

Food storage deal of the day

Fred Meyer (at least in Roseburg) has Tillamook Shredded Cheese 8 oz size on sale for $1 each. There were several kinds and varieties to choose from. The expiration date wasn't until September. Stock up and throw the extras in the freezer! These shredded bags freeze well and defrost quickly!

Homemade Veggie and Fruit Trays

This Saturday is my second house party! I will post more on it later. I have been shopping/preparing/cleaning all week to get ready. Today I went to pick up a few more food items. Since we were going to have around 30 family members, I planned on purchasing fruit and veggies trays. I knew they were more, but I wanted convience. They were $14.98 each!!!

For similar to this...

So I decided to make my own... Fruit tray...

  1. Clemetines 5 pounds $6.98
  2. Strawberries 4 pounds $4.48
  3. Grapes 2 1/2 pounds $6.35
  4. Pineapple $3.48
  5. Reusable Tray $1

Total: $22.49 (yes more than the tray, but for almost 12 pounds of fruit, plus the pineapple, there will be way more than can fit on one tray!)

Veggie Tray:
  1. Celery $1.48
  2. Broccoli $4.99 (2 pounds)
  3. Tomatoes $2.50
  4. Peas/Carrots $2
  5. Reusable Tray $1

Total:$11.97 for way more food (I could have even went cheaper with a head of broccoli, but these are ready to go for my husband's lunch.)

*Now, I know that some of this produce is higher priced and not in season right now, so it is still expensive to do trays, but how ridiculous that they mark the pre made trays up that high! I won't be buying those again. How do you save on entertaining?
