Get ready for Kmart doubles

Doubles are just around the corner...here is what you need to do to prepare.
  1. Sign up for a Shop My Rewards card at Kmart. Easy to do, just ask any cashier for one. This is the way they are "tracking" that you only use 5 per day.
  2. Look through your stash for high value coupons, especially $2 ones!
  3. Watch for coupon matchups on blogs, I will try and link them as they appear.
  4. Also, when you actually shop, please play by the rules and be a good shopper. I am thinking that this is a "test" run since they are doing it in so many areas. We haven't had doubles at Kmart in the Northwest since February 2009. It used to be a monthly or every other month thing, but of course there was abuse... Maybe if it goes well they will bring doubles back more often. Keep your fingers crossed and do your part to make it run smoothly!

Hidden Peelie at Rite Aid

I went to Rite Aid today for a couple of things we were out of that were on rebate. I just wanted you to be on the lookout for the peelies on the Woolite Dry Cleaners Secrets. It is for a free coupon via mail for another box of Woolite Dry Cleaners Secrets. So using the SCR, coupon, and free coupon, you can get two boxes for=$4.99!

Albertsons, the catalina machine loved me, the cashier not so much...

Albertsons today,

I got $167.34 worth for $72.14,

plus I got back $10.50 in catalinas, a 10% off coupon on your next purchase, 2 free milk coupons, a 20% off Payless coupon, Bonus Tropicana points (this can be traded for coupons at tropicana.com), and a new catalina coming up, (spend $30 get $10 back on baby products, hoping to get more information on this soon.) All great, right!?!
Except, the cashier put me in a rotten mood! She scrutinized EVERY coupon and wouldn't let me use two on the B1G1 free deals, because "We are not going to pay you to take something." I should have replied, "Oh, yes you do, all the time..." but instead I said, "I use 2 coupons on B1G1 sales all the time, because I am still buying 2 products." She just said, "Well, they shouldn't and we get in trouble." Then gave me the once over like I was a criminal, meanwhile the line of people building behind me is getting antsy....(Hmmm going to have to email corporate and ask what the policy is on this one.) Anyway, I wanted and needed to use my free milk coupons, so I came back in...

but had to deal with the same grouchy checker (she was the only one). Do any of you go shopping in the morning and only the "express" lane is open? Then you use the express lane and then the cashier get all mad because the line backs up...so frustrating! Oh well, $9.98 for all this, plus got back another $5 catalina. At least the catalina machine liked me today, I would have cried if they didn't print out after all that!
The purpose of this story is to tell you about two hidden gems in the Sunday ad. Besides the 3 double coupons...did you notice
  • spend $50 or more and get a 10% off coupon towards your next purchase (offer good through Easter and the coupon is good through April 13)
  • Del Monte Vegetables are 50 cents each, use the $1/5 from 2/7 RP, if you double it you can get 5 cans for 50 cents!
  • Also Crystal Light is on sale for $2, use the $1/1 coupon from the 3/21 SS, if you double it FREE! This is also part of the spend $20 get $5 catalina promo going on right now.

Friday Food for Thought: Ink

Since we all print a lot of great coupons from online, I am sure you go through as much ink and paper as I do. Who pays for all of that? Do you let Staples help you? I recently bought two ink cartridges and my daughter's science fair display box for $1.87 after Staples Rewards.

Staples has several reward programs, especially on ink and paper. You get 10% back on ink and paper products (mailed to you in the form of a coupon to use at Staples). Also did you know that each ink cartridge you recycle is worth $3 and sometimes they even double that to $6? Sign up for a Rewards card next time you go in to reap these benefits.

Friday (on Saturday) Food For Thought: Mystery coupon

This certainly peaked my interest...did you see the "mystery" amount coupon in the SS insert last week for Stride gum? I have read conflicting reports of it being a B1G1 free coupon or worth 50 cents. Has anyone tried it? I can't find this gum in any of the stores here yet. You can get a free pack coupon via mail by becoming a fan on facebook.

My question was though what do you think of the "mystery" coupon concept. I think it is marketing genius. Would the curiosity get you to try a new product?

Diaper deals

Remember how I said, in March we were going to see a big diaper launch of the New Pampers Cruisers. Well, they are in stores and on sale. $2 coupons (very unusual for Pampers) are in the 3/14 RP and the 2/21 P&G and $1.50 coupons are in the 2/7 P&G. Also the "old" Cruisers are being clearanced to make way for the new. You might be able to snag up some really good deals.

Not to be outdone, Huggies has released a $3/1 coupon (on coupons.com, hurry over to print 2).
This will work out great for Rite Aid next week. Huggies will be on sale for $8.99, use $3 coupon and $2 video value Rite Aid coupon, plus get a $1 SCR. I will post more on the deal on Saturday, but print your coupons now!
UPDATE: 2 more links (4 more coupons) to print on facebook and bricks. Thanks Freebies 4 Mom. Remember to hit the back button after the first one prints to print another one. You will only be able to get one pack at Rite Aid at $2.99, but you can get unlimited packs at $5.99 with these coupons, which is still a great deals if you need diapers.

Have you got your Pampers 3 pack sample with a $1 coupon? It is not too late, click on over.

Need your input please...

I am doing a short presentation on saving money at the grocery store for my RS group tomorrow. (Anyone in the "greater" Roseburg area is invited...) Since I only have a few minutes I want to get across the best ideas. So please comment, even if you never have, I am looking for lots of opinions. Question:

What is the best shopping tip you use (besides coupons) to save money?

and/or

What is something you wish someone had told you about shopping years ago?

Thanks, any and all comments greatly appreciated!

Friday Food for Thought: Razors vs. Blades

My darling sister Devri, ask me to be on the lookout for razor cartridge deals. It is frustrating! The cartridges are priced so high, that the small coupons barely even seem to make a dent in the price! A couple of weeks ago, you could get a free Schick Quatrim or a Fusion, but the blade packs were like $29.99! (outrageous) I understand that companies basically give razors away hoping you will get hooked on that kind and buy the overpriced blades, but wow. So every time we run out, I find myself buying another razor rather than the blades. This seems "wasteful" to me and I hate that, but I also don't like shelling out so much money when I can get the alternative for free. What do you think? Do you buy the razors and the blades now that you are a deal diva? Please comment, I am very interested.

Rite Aid Recap

What a great week at Rite Aid! One note, make sure you are buying "face" products with the B1G1 Free Cover Girl coupon, (apparently that means foundation,) eye shadow and blush won't work.
  1. Rebates added $5 from SC Johnson (make sure you do it all three times!) and my $15 gift card from P&G.
  2. Spent my $15 gift card and $12.15 cash from my rebate envelope (for all of that above!)
  3. Retail amount to date: $571.13
  4. Amount spent out of pocket in 2010: $105.60

Food Storage Deal of the Week

Albertsons has Campbell's Cream of Chicken (or Mushroom or Celery) on sale for 75 cents a can. Coupons for "cooking soups" are in the 1/10 or 2/28 SS and also $1/4 printable make this soup closer to 50 cents a can. That is a food storage stock up price! You should be able to buy it by the flats, my store was well stocked. If they are gone, make a rain check or special order for more.

Twilight Deals

Like you need "deals" on Twilight to buy it, but there are coupons for the New Moon DVD on redplum.com right now. New Moon goes on sale March 20. And how about a little Edward/Jacob to start out your Thursday, the new Eclipse trailer just released this morning.Eclipse will be in theatres on June 30. Enjoy!

Rollin' and Chillin'

I am loving all these promos at Albertsons right now. I bought some juice last week and got a $10 Chill coupon... On Saturday, I bought 10 Dreyer's Fruit Bars (these are the BEST popsicles ever!) I used my $10 Chill coupon, my $10 P&G coupon, and my $3.50 fruit snacks coupon. So I spent $6.40 and got back $10 more for the Chill promo.
Today, I got 4 Texas Toasts (another favorite), 6 grape juices, and 5 fruit snacks. I used my $10 Con Agra coupon, and my $10 chill coupon. I spent $2.90, but got back $13.50 in catalinas to roll again! The Chill promo is rumored to run for a few weeks, with different products on sale. The fruit snack catalina runs until 3/22, but the fruit snacks are priced at $1 through Tuesday!

Albertsons Score!

I went to Albertsons and spent $56.08 and got back $33.50 in catalinas, plus will send in the the $5 Jenni-O rebate, making this purchase $17.58 for $147.65 worth of groceries. So I saved 88%! I was thinking the B1G1 coupon would work for the Tide stain release, but it was the wrong size, so I came out $10.99 higher than I expected, but still very "deal-icious!" I am going to use these catalinas to roll into more fruit snacks and chill promotion products!

* Please check out the krazy coupon lady to see other bloggers finds!
