Rite Aid Recap

One last trip to Rite Aid for 2010, here is the recap...

  1. Didn't add any rebates
  2. Spent $9.37 from my cash envelope
  3. Retail amount in 2010: $2736.15
  4. Amount spent out of pocket in 2010: $272.07

That means for 2010, I saved 90% off of retail prices on household products. In other years I would have spent this elsewhere and easily in the past have spent $272.07 at one time on these items! I also have $13 in + Ups, my $20 gift of savings, $1.08 in my cash envelope, over 1/4 the way to my Resolution Rewards $20 + Up, and $8 coming from my December SCR. I love Rite Aid shopping and am excited to see what the next year holds.

Macy's National Believe Day

Today's is National Believe Day at Macy's. Write a letter to Santa (stamped) and bring it to the mail box outside any Macy's. For every letter received Macy's will donate $1, up to $1,000,000 to the Make a Wish Foundation. Today is Double Donation Day and for every letter put in a Macy's mailbox, Macy's will donate an extra $1 to the Make a Wish Foundation. What a great way to give back and help your child with a fun holiday tradition. Tune into the CBS Early Show for letter count updates. Also, be sure to watch CBS on Friday, December 17 for a new animated version of "Yes, Virginia".

Rite Aid Recap

Funny story to tell you...remember how when I went on Thanksgiving, the cashier adjusted my "free" coupons by subtracting the amount of + Up rewards, so I was just getting them for free, not a money maker. Well, I wrote a nice email to corporate just asking if this was a new policy I didn't know about, I don't want to be breaking rules or informing people wrong. Anyway, they wrote back and said that she should have given me the full purchase price of the item off, not the purchase price minus the + Ups. This was fine with me, I had my answer and knew I was doing things right.

When I went to Rite Aid yesterday, the cashier that helped me before was looking for Hershey's Pot of Gold for me (FYI: both Roseburg stores out and have been since Thanksgiving ...) and she said, "By the way, we owe you a $2 refund from those coupons before." Vindication! But just so you know, every email you write to corporate does get sent right back to the store, which is a good thing. Although I never intended for anyone to get singled out, it is nice to have the policies clarified for everyone.

  1. Added $2 refund to my envelope ;)
  2. Spent $1.10 from my cash envelope (my gift of savings is sad...)
  3. Retail amount to date: $2509.05
  4. Amount spent out of pocket in 2010: $240.90

New High Value Pampers Wipe Coupon

The other day I was thinking about all the free coupon resources and different ways to get coupons other than the Sunday inserts. One of my favorites is coupons in the mail, I get almost a coupon a day in my mailbox. It is a fun surprise see what comes. I found a new high value wipe, $1/1 Pampers Thick Care Wipes that you can get in your mailbox. Look for a sale and you should be able to score cheap wipes. Here is the link: Pampers coupon

Kmart Doubles Coupons 12/5-12/7: 3 packs of Huggies for $12.97!

UPDATE: did the deal today and everything worked perfectly, including the gift card! The exact wording on the Kmart customer service memo said "consumables" as well as grocery and drugstore!

Kmart is doubling coupons for three days only. You must have a Shop Your Way Rewards card. (can pick one up at register). Hand over your card at the first of the transaction and it will automatically double the first 5 coupons, so have them in the right order :) Here are the rules:
  1. Spend $25 or more in grocery or drugstore merchandise
  2. Amount cannot exceed price (no overage)
  3. You may only purchase 4 of the same item using double coupon.
  4. Excludes B1G1 Free and Kmart coupons.
  5. Limit of 5 coupons per day.

With all these restrictions, I wondered if I could find a deal...but I did.

There is currently a promo for a Free $5 Kmart award card when you by 3 Pampers or 3 Huggies jumbo diapers. They are priced at $9.99 this week, so the best deal is with Huggies.

  1. Buy 3 Huggies $29.97
  2. Use 3 $2/1 coupons from 11/14 or 12/5 SS ($4 x 3=-$12)
  3. Pay $17.97
  4. Get $5 Kmart card
  5. =$12.97 for three packs of diapers, best part come back the next day and repeat only use card and pay $12.97 and get back another $5 Kmart card!

*I am assuming diapers are part of "drugstore" as they were not part of "healthy and beauty" last time. However, I will be going to Kmart tomorrow to confirm this deal and any other promos I may see.

Madcoupons

One of the biggest challenges for me since I started couponing, has been getting the Sunday coupon inserts. Let me explain, first I don't like to buy things on Sunday for religious reasons. Second, our local paper, only carries the P&G and that is not regularly. The "big" paper goes through a distributor and costs $17 a month for delivery and of course I can order more than one paper...for an additional $17 per month! So I am stuck buying it at a corner newsstand on Sunday (for $2.50 each), or hoping I can find one on Monday. Plus I still have to purchase the local paper to get the ads! Huge headache!

Then I found an online distributor, but they only mailed out once a month, so buy the time I got the coupons, some of the deals were gone and some of the coupons were even expired.

Then I found
Madcoupons. It has solved this dilemma for me! They mail out 10 of each insert (so weeks with three you get 30!) for only $10.50 per week. You can also order monthly, the monthly priced is based on the number of weeks the inserts come out, so it varies from $21-$42. The best part is they mail out the coupons on Saturday or Monday, so you still get the coupons the same week! I usually get mine on Wednesday afternoon, so I still have plenty of time to hit the sales! Head on over and read the details and see if this is a good option for you. If you think 10 inserts is too many (it really is a lot...) you can always divide the order with a friend or two when they arrive. You can order each week or each month and see if it is a fit for you. It does not automatically renew.

*If anyone is Roseburg area would like to "split" an order, please contact me. We are working on getting some "share orders" going.

HOT Baby Star 50% off + Free Shipping

Baby Star just released a new coupon code! I ran across Baby Star with my last baby. They have ADORABLE clothes that are made out of natural and organic materials. They are very high quality and quite pricey normally. I love their bright, funky prints. They are also a company based out of Portland, Oregon, so you are supporting a Northwest company. Here is my daughter (2 years ago) in a Baby Star outfit! She got compliments everywhere we went! If you head to Baby Star Sale they have several options already marked down. You could get 2 pants and 2 onesies ($14.99 each) after discount $14.99 for 4 items. They also have 4 "grab bag" options, each comes with a tote bag plus 3-4 other items. Some even have Simple Shoes, which are regularly $24.99 by themselves. You can get these grab bags for $32-$38 (shipped), regularly priced at up to $144 plus shipping! Just enter the code: FESTIVE at checkout to get free shipping and 50% off any order over $25!

UPDATE: you might have to enter FESTIVE twice, once for 50% off and once for free shipping. Make sure it is all capitals!
